Lithtech City Demo
I've been reviewing all of the levels that I've built so far, and some of the very early levels that were built now seem very rough to me. It was all a good learning experience though, and some of these early levels can still eventually be improved and completed.
Others however don't seem to work as well as I would like. An example of one of these levels is the attempt that I made to build a massive city level last year. I think I spent about 3 weeks trying to push the lithtech engine to its limits by building one of the largest levels that lithtech 1.0 had ever seen. But I now think that its huge size is actually a drawback, and the level itself doesn't really flow very well.
I now doubt that I'll ever complete this particuliar level or include it in the final release. But as a demo for what's possible with level construction in lithtech 1.0, I think it's a somewhat interesting example that I thought I'd share.

I can see that the level does not flow very well as a 'standard' level, but what about if you make it a count-down like level that need to be finished in say X minutes? You may want to split the storyline in the two cases... or just make it impossible to complete in time, just to make the player run ;)
Just an idea to avoid burning all of that work you put in the level, which in facts looks pretty nice...

Thanks, Buti.
That's an interesting idea that might work. It could also be a giant scavenger hunt level where you need to collect all the items before continuing.
Maybe this level could still possibly be salvaged someday...
